This Privacy Policy describes how Eye Square Optical (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit https://eyesquareoptical.com, browse our catalogue, place an order, or otherwise interact with us. We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (and its rules).

1. What we collect

Identity & contact: name, email, mobile, billing & shipping address.
Prescription data: sphere (SPH), cylinder (CYL), axis, pupillary distance (PD), and any photographs of prescriptions you upload. This is sensitive personal data — we handle it accordingly.
Order & transaction data: items purchased, prices paid, coupons applied, Razorpay payment IDs.
Device & usage data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referrer, device identifiers — collected via cookies and analytics tools.
Communications: any emails, WhatsApp messages, or chat with our support team.

2. Why we collect it

To process your order, fulfil delivery, and provide customer service.
To verify your prescription with a qualified optician before dispensing prescription eyewear.
To send order updates, delivery notifications, GST tax invoices, and (with your consent) marketing communications.
To detect fraud, prevent abuse of coupons or returns, and meet legal obligations.
To improve our products, website performance, and customer experience.

3. Cookies & tracking

We use first-party cookies for cart sessions, login, and prescription persistence. We also use Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Analytics to measure marketing performance. 4. Who we share data with

Razorpay — payment processing (RBI-licensed).
Shipping partners — Shiprocket and its courier network (Bluedart, Delhivery, DTDC, etc.) for last-mile delivery.
Resend & Hostinger Mail — transactional & service emails.
Meta & Google — for measurement and advertising (you can opt out at facebook.com and google.com).
Tax authorities & regulators — when legally compelled.

We never sell your personal data.

5. How long we keep it

Order & GST invoice records: 8 years (Income Tax Act + GST law).
Prescription data: 3 years from your last order, then deleted.
Marketing data: until you unsubscribe + 6 months for suppression-list audit.

6. Your rights under DPDPA

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request erasure (subject to legal-retention requirements).
Withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of death or incapacity.
File a grievance with our Grievance Officer (details below).

7. Security

Your prescription & payment data is transmitted over TLS 1.2+. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Payment card data is processed by Razorpay (PCI-DSS Level 1) — we never store full card numbers. Our servers are hosted in India.

8. Children

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, write to us and we'll delete the account.
